Labor Day....
This has been one of those day of that significantly marks our calender since..... Ummmm (When?????)
First became a national holiday in 1894.
- It marks the time when Summer ends
- It means school age children will now toddle off to school giving weary parents a small relief, if not cheap day care (Yikes... another subject)
- A day off for those in certain JOBS. The laborer, state worker, bus driver, or trash collector.....
- That last family day together before the holiday season.
Certainly not everyone gets this day off in celebration of ??????
Well, for Williard Mitt Romney it would be a day of celebration of the work ethic.
I briefly heard this statement while listening to the news and relaxing in front of a never ending game of FarmVille (...errr an addiction)
There was Willard tooling around on his boat after his campaign invited the press to watch him take his yacht out for a stretch on Lake Winnipesaukee.
I sat for a moment thinking.... WTF?!?!?!
This day is not about "work ethic" but THE WORKER!
Truthfully the new GOP attack against women has only been equalled to the attack against the every day worker.
Truthfully this is not really a surprise, seeing as Willard does not really respect the American Worker. His use of "Work Ethic" is suspect as well.
It would seem that "Work Ethic" may be under the same definition reconstruction as "rape"
Wow?!?!?
..........................................Have I gone too far?
Now give me a chance to clerify.....
I thought "LIBS" were the radical re-constructionists, trying to redefine the Constitution, and CHANGE the country.
...... ONLY,
The reconstruction of the GOP seems to be more of a deconstruction.
Rape, an assault/offense that is already tough enough for a victim to seek justice, is something quite a few new GOP Congressmen (and Women), "Young Guns", including Paul Ryan, want to make harder on the person attacked. With all the GOP anger at Todd Akin and his "real rape"claims, you would think this was the 1st time the subject was approached.
No, not at all. The reconstruction of "rape" has been approached with terms like "forciblerape". All of which circumnavigates the continued dance around Roe v Wade and their inability to just over turn the Supreme Court decision.
So, instead of marital rape or aquaintence rape, perhaps the gal just "had a bad night". Maybe she lead him on. It was just a bad date, and she has morning regrets. This should not be used as an excuse to "kill" an innocent. Besides, "If it's a legitimate rape, the female body has ways to try to shut that whole thing down,"
Right?!?!!?
So why, Dragon, bring "RAPE" into this discussion of "WORK ETHIC"?
Well if you remember, I said the reconstruction of "Work Ethic", and yes the GOP wants to redefine rape as a weak knee approach to getting their way with abortion.
Likewise, Romney's lily-livered delivery of "Work Ethic" on Labor Day is his way of redefining the American Worker. Truthfully this is not the beginning of the New GOP's attempt to redefine not only the American Worker, but the American economy.
I could have spewed what I was drinking when I heard Willard exclaim, "they (Liberals... Obama/Biden) are waging CLASS WARFARE"
Really?!?!?!
Class Warfare has been in existence for decades.... it too has been evolving. First there were the "Welfare Queens" of Reagan.
You know those lazy bitches just watching the soaps and popping out kids.
For the record, my mom was one of those on public assistance from 1976 until 1982. After leaving an abusive spouse, she went back to school while raising 3 kids. Her youngest has autism. This "lazy welfare queen" had to give up her baby to the state in order to get a job. So her other two children would not watch her sit on welfare.
You know aquire a WORK ETHIC...... and we did!
Don't forget some other of the GOP oldies...
- Quail who likened all unwed moms to Murphy Brown
- Gingrich and the new "boys town"
Quail of course did not actually watch the show, Murphy Brown, so he did not get that she did not "get pregnant" on purpose, but got knocked up and CHOSE to keep the baby.
And Gingrich does not grasp all the issues that went along with a PUBLIC or even PRIVATE run center....
.................. (but of course they could always redefine child rape)
.... but I digress.
Class warfareis not an invention of Obama.... and all of the belly-aching on it is another weapon of mass distraction from the real changes going on under the surface.
All you have to do is look at our ECONOMY (that is what Willard keeps shouting.... and he really does choke up the breath when trying to say E-CON-a...meeee)...
We no longer produceanything, we essentially have become a service industry.
What does a service worker make???
...........................Minimum wage mostly. Hours are short, so forget about benefits
.......... but those are "entitlements" If you reeeeaaally have a "work ethic" you should not expect that. Right?!?!?!
What is the definition of "Work Ethic"
- To Willard?
- To YOU?
Work ethic is a set of values based on hard work and diligence. It is also a belief in the moral benefit of work and its ability to enhance character. .......................
Workers exhibiting a good work ethic in theory should be selected for better positions, more responsibility and ultimately promotion. Workers who fail to exhibit a good work ethic may be regarded as failing to provide fair value for the wage the employer is paying them and should not be promoted or placed in positions of greater responsibility.
See work ethic in Webster's New World College Dictionary
a system of values in which central importance is ascribed to work, or purposeful activity, and to qualities of character believed to be promoted by work

What is the value of someone with a work ethic? Does someone without one keep their job?
Truthfully I will tell you yes.
I have seen it through the years. When I was 16 I had a full time job for the summer working at the Social Security building in my hometown. I could not believe people who sat around most of the day typing and filing needed in an 8 hour day 2 breaks and a 45 minute lunch. Later when I worked as a cashier I could get only a 15 minute break for 6 hours, and they would not give me a 6 1/2 hour day, because they would have to give me 1/2 hour lunch. Now that I have an "office" like job, I see evidence of people who lack a work ethic...
..... but that is my opinion of their efforts
Obviously the value I have placed on entitlement is equal to the amount of effort required by the job. Is that true? Is not clerical work just as important as the service person when you need your groceries cashed out?
Is the Corporate CEO more valuble than the worker bee?
..........................Well, no.
True enough the CEO is valued with monetary reward more so then the worker bee. Machines and ways to circumnavigate full time employment of the cashier is being redefined everyday.
But what if the cashier was gone..... could machines hold up to the full value of that cashier? Have you used one of those self serve cash registers? Imagine if there was a woman with a couple carts full of groceries ahead of you?
eeek.... what if she had to pay with food stamps?!?!?!
Why? Well there are many cashiers.... that is a crunch on payroll if you happen to own a chain of Supermarkets, Super Centers... etc.
The same applies for factory workers, construction workers, garbage collectors, postal workers, police, firemen, and yes teachers.
What does all these have in common?
Well ...... unions. The bane of all CEO's (like the pun?),
Unions are also the reason for LABOR DAY.
.................But Willard, while tooling around in his yacht wants to redefine Labor Day as the celebration of "Work Ethic".
While at Bain Capital, Willard redefined the companies he took over. Didn't he?!?!?!
from Wikipedia:
Their model was to buy existing firms with money mostly borrowed against their assets, partner with existing management to apply Bain methodology to their operations (rather than the hostile takeovers practiced in other leverage buyout scenarios), and sell them off in a few years.[25][17]Existing CEOs were offered large equity stakes in the process, owing to Bain Capital's belief in the emerging agency theorythat CEOs should be bound to maximizing shareholder value rather than other goals.[18]By the end of 1990, Bain had raised $175 million of capital and financed 35 companies with combined revenues of $3.5 billion.[35]
He certainly made his fortune. Bain Capital was a success for the investors and existing CEO's.
You could say this company is the "House Flipper" of small and large businesses.......
........ But what about the worker bees?
Well they went from a middle class income and decent benefits to either excepting newly formed minimum wage jobs or unemployment.
And Willard calls this his "success".
If you question him on it, you are hating him for his "success"
You are questioning capitalism. (really?!?!?!)
...... he will not apologize for his success.
Well, Willard..... Mitt (which ever)
I don't care about your success, and I don't care about your money or how Richie Rich you are babe....
I care about the people you stomped over to get that success.
.... and I don't think it is a good reference in your resume for the office of President of the United States.
Corporations are not people and the United States of America is not a corporation. It rests on the Constitution.
...... (something the GOP always waves like a flag, but does not seem to read the whole thing... certainly not at the opening of the current Congressional administration)
...... and the Constitution is not something that can be "flipped" like a house or a business.
Truthfully it is sad that businesses have lost that "employees are family" value and has become like gypsy corporate made products that are as easily discarded as the cheaply made items produced by these pale comparisons to the large industries of yester-years.
Willard Mitt Romney's attempt to redefine work ethic quite frankly is an insult that seems to have been missed by the so called "lame-stream Liberal media".
Remember when Prime Minister Kiichi Miyazawa's was "quoted" as calling Americans "lazy". You would think they bombed the American worker. Indecently, you should read the article in the link.
But Willard seems to think that if you ask for basic "entitlements" you are asking for more than you are worth.
My question to all of you is, when you are standing at that voting booth....
................................................................. what do you think your worth is?
