sympathy for his plight? what plight? this guy ditched his nine children off on the state. my sympathy is for the nine kids that share this waste of carbon's dna. i'm not saying i don't value human life, but this guy should not still be walking the earth, not to mention having more kids. did his new girlfriend know of his 'parenting' skills? are they planning on dropping off the twins once they're born?

Jonna, I was just thinking the same thing. I really dislike opening the door for governmental intrusion, but this is out of control. Some people need to be snipped and clipped because you know they're not capable of parenting and the public is paying for it one way or another. It's not fair to anyone, kids included.
lee, I wonder if we did require tests to determine if a person is qualified to be a parent, just how many would actually fail. I'm guessing a lot more than most people think.

Omaha Doctor offers free Vasectomy to Safe Haven dad Wednesday, July 1, 2009
It was last October that 37 year old Gary Staton dropped of 9 of his children at Creighton University Medical Center under the then-active Safe Haven Law. Staton stated that his wife had recently died at the time and he was having a very difficult time caring for the children by himself. The children ranged in age from one month to 16. An older child was legally an adult.
Staton is once again about to be a father. His girlfriend is pregnant with twins. Staton stated that he would be willing to receive a vasectomy but he could not afford one.

You know, DragonWoman, in all my frustration and disbelief regarding the dad's situation, I kind of put the poor kids out of my mind. They really will have a hard time of it. And now I wonder how they feel - those who are old enough to know what's going on, that is - to know he's got more children coming by a different woman. Will these unborn twins be kept by the father and his girlfriend? That would be devastating to the kids he gave up. I feel so bad for them.

"He goes up there for visits -- they still have a connection," Manzer tells FOXNews.com. "They kind of understood what he did, he was stressed with everything else."
I am glad they have a home, and he visits... but I don't think they really understand. And what if something happens with this woman? He should have sought therapy... not another woman.

I don't like this guy, I want to kick his impotent fatherhood into a hemorrhoid but how would that help his children, an ef-up that keeps efing-up is a problem that will solve it's self. I would never do that but I don't like this guy, I think he thinks being a father is about the act of impregnation but a penis only feels enough love to start the process, a father can't stand to see a child cry, a father hangs around to argue with his teenagers and a real father works with the mother even if they are divorced, just because real parents love their children. If the mother dies, the children need a father.
